Vadrózsa was formed in 1974 as a Calgary Centennial Project.  Originally, Vadrózsa was part of the Hungarian Veteran's Association, Calgary Chapter.

In 1978, the group became an independent chartered organization, deciding to use the name VADRÓZSA, meaning Wildrose, Alberta's flower.

Vadrózsa has performed throughout Alberta, including Red Deer, Pincher Creek, Lethbridge, Edmonton, Banff and Lake Louise.  The group has performed in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and has travelled to perform in Toronto, Montreal and the Gaspe Peninsula.
Vadrózsa took part in the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympic entertainment, as well as performing on three occasions at the Vancouver World Fair (Expo ’86).  In 1996, we took part in the International FolkFest held near Salt Lake City, in Bountiful, Utah, our first time performing in the United States.

Another first was in the summer of 2000.  Vadrózsa had the opportunity to travel to Hungary and partake in two dance workshops, in the cities of Válaszút and Kalotaszentkirály in Erdély (Transylvania).   Again in 2003, the dancers travelled to Hungary, this time to perform at a week long festival in Nyiregyháza.
Performances in Calgary include several appearances for Calgary Folk Arts Council events such as Canada Day, Heritage Day and WinterFest.

Vadrózsa has performed for a variety of weddings, socials, dinners, for Senior Citizens and school functions.

We have also enjoyed performing at the many Hungarian celebrations throughout the years.

These include the Hungarian Cultural Association's dinners and the annual Hungarian Veteran's Association Gala Ball.
